Watch an order, five ways
Every live broker order has an order status in the Order Book. Every deployed strategy has a strategy status on its card. Simulated below, about 4× faster than real time; numbers are illustrative.

1A normal order
QUEUED waits its turn, PLACING is on its way, OPEN works at the broker and re-prices, DONE is filled at the broker's real average.
Watch the Limit column step toward the price.
Why / details
On Indian brokers "Market" is a marketable limit that starts about 2% through the live price, widens 1% every 3 seconds and stops at a 20% cap. It is never a plain market order. Broker calls are paced at 10 per second across all strategies, one at a time per instrument. Orders above the exchange freeze limit are split automatically.

2A temporary error
A network glitch or a busy broker is retried in 5 seconds. A broker rejection is retried in 30 seconds. A session or login error makes the desk log in again first. The Note column shows the reason and the retry count.

Why / details
Before a retry the desk looks for its own earlier order at the broker and adopts it instead of placing a duplicate; a re-place only sends what is still unfilled. A price-band or circuit rejection jumps the rest of the order straight to its cap.

3A broker reject that gives up
An entry rejected 8 times becomes FAILED and you get an alert. A close is never given up: it keeps retrying and asks you once to square off by hand.

The +N L pending badge means broker-confirmed lots are short. The desk auto-fills every 20 seconds, then every 90 seconds after 3 quick tries, crossing the spread up to 20%. ✓ Mark completed manually sends no order: only for lots you filled yourself. ✕ Waive stops auto-filling.

4A strategy's day
Waiting → 09:20:00 then Live Tranching while fills confirm, Live-Entered in position, Exiting · Live-Tranching while closes confirm, then Exited. Paper follows the same path without waiting on a broker.

Why / details
When several rules apply, the card shows the most important: BLOCKED first, then Paused, the after-close Exited display, Exiting, Error, Live Tranching, Order Failed, and so on. The Deployed pills group these into five buckets: Live, Waiting, Error, Paused and Exited.

Why / details
⋯ → Notification Log shows every event in plain English: ORDER_PLACED, ORDER_CHASE, ORDER_FILLED, ORDER_CANCELLED, ORDER_ERROR, ORDER_STUCK, SL_ORDER_PLACED, BROKER_SL and more. The card footer names the exit reason: Time exit, Stop loss, Target hit, Max day loss, Manual square-off or Session close.

The cycle finished: time exit, stop-loss, target, day cap and so on. The footer shows the reason. From 15:41 IST (NSE/BSE) or 23:45 IST (MCX) every intraday card displays Exited until morning; that is display only.

Flat for this strategy's own lots
Order Failed
Live, and an opening order could not be placed: instrument not in the broker's list, zero quantity, the US contract cap, or the broker's instrument list not loaded.
Read the red log line "Live order NOT placed: …", then ↻ Reactivate the broker or fix the setting.

Error
Usually "Exit NOT confirmed flat at the broker" for the strategy's own orders, or "N close order(s) FAILED".
Check your broker and the Notification Log; square off by hand if a position remains. It clears itself once its own orders verify flat.

You pressed Pause. No conditions are checked and nothing is sent; the position stays open. On positional strategies the resting broker stop-loss was cancelled.

What can go wrong
- "A protective close is never abandoned … square off manually"
A close was rejected 8 times. The desk keeps retrying, but something at your broker blocks it. Square off by hand in your broker terminal, then check the Desk ⇆ Broker Check.
- Order Failed right after the entry time
The opening order was never placed; the log line "Live order NOT placed: …" names the reason. Usually the broker's instrument list was not loaded: open Brokers and press ↻ Reactivate.
- Error after an exit
The desk could not prove its own lots flat within 30 seconds, or a close FAILED. Check your broker. If flat, it clears within about 20 seconds; if a position remains, close it by hand.
- "stale order from a previous session"
Each morning the desk cancels any non-urgent order still QUEUED from yesterday, so it never fills late.
- An opening order was CANCELLED just before an exit
The self-trade guard: before a close, the desk cancels the same strategy's pending opening orders on that contract. The pending sweeper adds the slice back later.
- Expiry day after 15:30
If a close is refused after the contract stops trading, the desk books it as "settled by the exchange at expiry" at the last price; no order is sent. Your broker's final price can differ.
Frequently asked questions
What does Live Tranching mean?
Your live entry was sent and at least one leg is still waiting for the broker to confirm its fill while an order is still working. The card shows only broker-confirmed lots. Wait, or open the Pending panel from the +N L pending badge.
Is Order Failed the same as an order with status FAILED?
No. Order Failed is a strategy status: an opening order could not even be placed, for example because the instrument is missing from the broker's list or the quantity is zero. FAILED is an order status in the Order Book: the desk placed the order but gave up after repeated rejections.
Does Market send a market order to my broker?
On Indian brokers, no. Market is sent as a marketable limit order that starts about 2% through the live price, widens 1% every 3 seconds up to a 20% cap, and keeps re-pricing until it fills. The Order Book shows such orders as MKT in the Limit column.
An order shows STUCK. Is it dead?
No. STUCK means a working order has sat at its price cap for 60 seconds or had no live price for 30 seconds. You get one alert and the order keeps working. From the Pending panel you can press Fill now, or fill it at your broker yourself and press Mark completed manually.
Why does my strategy say Exited in the evening when it showed Error earlier?
After 15:41 IST on NSE and BSE, or 23:45 IST on MCX, every intraday card displays Exited until the next morning. This is display only. Open the Notification Log to see what really happened and check your broker.
